Our office is a Safe Space for all students. A “Safe Space” is designated by staff who wish to be an ally to LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered) students by creating and advocating for a safe space for both LGBT youth and other students regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression. Statistics may show that some students do not feel supported or safe at school. Many times, LGBT students do not feel safe in their own schools. Bullying, harassment, physical intimidation are the norm for far too many LGBT youth. However, we believe the presence of a supportive educators can make a difference.
