HEAR – May Film Series on Mental Health

Holistic Health + Empathy + Accessibility + Recovery (HEAR) is a May film series to deepen the conversation on mental health.

HEAR is a partnership between Ciné, Family Counseling Service of Athens, Inc. (FCS) and Nuçi’s Space to raise awareness and de-stigmatize mental illness by screening relevant mental wellness-related videos & films for the Athens community.  We will screen movies every Saturday in Mental Health Awareness Month (May), free of charge. Tickets for the film screenings will be available at Ciné at the box office on the day of each screening event.

The three organizations have curated films for the series relevant to their primary missions that will stimulate conversations on mental health and wellness.  FCS will provide post-screening Q&A sessions with licensed mental health professionals who specialize in addressing the issues depicted in each film.

Each Saturday at Ciné, we will have an information center with many participating mental health organizations and resources available in Athens.  Our kickoff event will be Saturday, May 4th from 11:45 AM until 4:00PM, and will include the information tables, TED Talks on subjects related to mental wellness in the Ciné LAB (in addition to the curated feature-length film in the theater), and acoustic music performances by various artists throughout the afternoon.
