This week we read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? and did several activities with it. This seemed to be one of their favorite books so far. One of the activities was retelling the story with the help of some of students as the characters. The students loved being part of the story!
This week we were able to participate in our first cooking activity. Thanks to your donations we were able to “cook” trail mix this week.
Here is the recipe that we used:
Put in as much as you would like of each ingredient and 22 stirs from awesome children and then ENJOY!
Here are some of our friends enjoying the trail mix outside.
We have had a fabulous first week of school. The students are getting in a routine and I couldn’t be more proud of how much progress they have made in just 5 short days. This week we were able to learn a couple new songs and have began to learn some numbers and letters. The students were also able to explore our block, housekeeping, and writing centers. Some things that you can discuss with your child are the 5 classroom rules. Discussing what each rule means and how they can display this behavior will help them in the weeks to come. We do this in class but it is often great when parents can do it in a more one on one setting as well.
The Classroom Rules:
- Listen when someone is speaking
- Raise your hand to speak
- Follow directions quickly
- Be a caring friend
- Always do your best
Next week we will be starting our first unit this year which will be My School and My Friends. We will be learning about our school and things that we might see or do at school. We will also be learning about the similarities and differences among our friends.
Please see the newsletter tab on the website for this week’s newsletter.
