Our students have had a great beginning of the school year! We have been so impressed with their hard work, and ability to work together. We are introducing prepositional phrases in language arts. To make this more engaging, our students participated in a “Paper Airplane,” activity. Students built paper airplanes, then created sentences with prepositional phrases to explain where their plane landed. We were impressed at their ability to stay on task & look forward to a great rest of the year!
We chose to ditch the traditional classroom setup to create a more kid-friendly environment. With flexible seating our students can work around the room in whatever setting is most comfortable to them. We have developed a system in which students choose their seat at the beginning of the day. They are encouraged to choose a seat where they can complete their best work. We reserve the right to move their seats if necessary; however, we find that when you empower children to make their own choices, they usually choose wisely. Check out our flexible seating contract located on the Page, “What makes our classroom special.” We look forward to the new school year!
