Ten classes of 4th graders from Holsenbeck and Bethlehem Elementary schools recently spent some time with WSB-TV Meteorologist Brad Nitz through an interactive live streaming session.

As part of their earth science unit highlighting weather and climate standards, these students were given a virtual tour of the Channel 2 News Station and Severe Weather Center.  The tour was followed by a question and answer session where the more than 250 students were able to ask specific questions about how to forecast the weather, how meteorologists use math, how much college education it takes to become a weather forecaster, and other interesting questions about tornadoes and snow.

A recording of the session is available on the Barrow County School System YouTube STEAM Integration Channel and can be viewed below.

If you would be interested in utilizing a live streaming event as part of one of your own upcoming units, please email the STEAM Integration Coordinator, Lee Bane, at lee.bane@barrow.k12.ga.us.
